Not slack or loose; firmly stretched; taut; -- applied to a rope, chain, or the like, extended or stretched out.

Handy; adroit; brisk.

Somewhat intoxicated; tipsy.

Pressing; stringent; not easy; firmly held; dear; -- said of money or the money market. Cf. Easy, 7.
