“Cookies” is commonly used as shorthand for cookies, local storage, session storage, pixels, tags and similar technologies that store information on or access information from a device.
Your choice
Academic Dictionary keeps optional Analytics, Advertising measurement and Personalisation off until you choose them. You can accept all, reject all, choose purposes individually, or reopen Privacy choices later.

Essential storage
Essential storage is limited to technology genuinely needed to provide the service, secure it, or remember and honour your privacy choice. Advertising is not treated as strictly necessary.
Analytics
The current EWB implementation takes a consent-first approach. Optional EWB analytics and Google Analytics only start after Analytics consent. This includes site-scoped pseudonymous measurement of page use and performance.
Advertising
Contextual advertising can sometimes be selected from the page's content without building a behavioural profile. Advertising measurement and personalised advertising are separate optional purposes and remain consent-controlled.
Google Consent Mode
Before an optional Google tag is allowed to run, Academic Dictionary sets analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization to denied. The EWB client updates those signals after your choice. The site is configured not to load Google Analytics itself until Analytics consent has been granted.
Changing your mind
Use Privacy choices to change or withdraw optional consent. You can also clear cookies and site storage in your browser, although doing so may cause the site to ask for your privacy choice again.
