- Complication: The person everybody is waiting for arrives early and overhears the wrong sentence.
- Opening rule: Open with a sentence of five words or fewer.
- Structure: Write three short scenes separated by blank lines.
- Dialogue: Let one character misunderstand a perfectly clear sentence because of context.
- Ending rule: End with a character choosing not to correct a misunderstanding.
- Tone: Write it as dry, understated comedy.
